Awardsshow Watch 2010: The People's Choice Awards
The first awards show of 2o1o and the new decade is the only awards show where the winners are chosen by the people. You voted and now it's time to find out your favorites in television, music and movies. Live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles...this is the 2010 People's Choice Awards hosted by Queen Latifah!!
Queen Latifah opened the show with a musical number honoring tonight's nominees. The first award of the night is Favorite Talk Show and the people have chosen "The Ellen Degeneres Show" for the eleventh time in a row. Ellen DeGeneres thanked her fans and joked about Oprah being cancelled. She will making her judging debut on "American Idol" in February during the Hollywood Round. It will be interesting to see how well she can tell the contestants that they are not continuing on in the competition. She presented the category of Favorite Comedy Movie and the people chose "The Proposal" which starred Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
Tim Gunn ("Project Runway") and Nicole Schlezinger (The Pussycat Dolls) presented a trailer for the new movie "Robin Hood" starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett coming to theaters later this year. Queen Latifah starred in a spoof of "Paranormal Activity" with a guest appearance by Cloris Leachman doing God knows what with a married couple in the bed with the video camera rolling. Thank goodness, it's a not sex tape. Country group Rascal Flatts presented the Favorite R & B Artist category and Mariah Carey was voted as the people's favorite. She wore a long dress and luckily she didn't fall..her husband Nick Cannon helped her up on stage to get the award.
Kate Walsh ("Private Practice") presented the Favorite TV Comedy Actor award. The fans had chosen Steve Carell ("The Office") as their favorite funny guy who makes them laugh. Fans of "The Office" were very happy.
Sofia Braga ("Modern Family") and James Denton ("Desperate Housewives") humorously presented the Favorite TV Comedy Actress award and the people loved Alyson Hannigan of "How I Met Your Mother"
Jeff Probst ("Survivor") gave us a preview of the new season of Survivor starting in February. The title: "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" brings back your favorite Survivor contestants from past seasons. Can you believe it that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the premiere of the first Survivor?
Chevy Chase ("Community") and Jenna Elfman ("Accidentally on Purpose") present the Favorite TV Comedy award..the fans voted and the winner is...."The Big Bang Theory!!" Luckily for the fans, they like the nerds. There's a chance that "Community" and "Accidentally on Purpose" will be cancelled after this season. They are not funny shows.
Christian Slater ("The Forgotten") introduced a performance of Mary J. Blige singing "I Am".
Katie Cassidy ("Melrose Place") and Kellan Lutz (the "Twilight" movies) presented the Favorite Country Artist award...the people chose (what a suprise!!) Carrie Underwood who just got engaged to a hockey player. Congrats, Carrie on your engagement!!
Paula Patton ("Precious") presented the Favorite TV Drama Actor award and the fans had voted Hugh Laurie of "House" who was sitting next to Carrie Underwood in the audience. "House" won Favorite TV Drama.
Will I Am of The Black Eyed Peas introduced a sneak peek of one of the blockbuster movies coming this year--"Clash of the Titans" starring Liam Neeson.
Queen Latifah had fun in the audience and spotted Taylor Lautner and Nicole Kidman. The seat filler took their photo. The always funny George Lopez cracked up the crowd as usual and presented the Favorite Movie Actress award and the winner is....Sandra Bullock!! The crowd was cheering wildly.
Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson got new movies coming this year. Jackie Chan's newest is "The Spy Next Door" and Taraji P. Henson's "The Karate Kid". They're bringing "The Karate Kid" back? Anyway, they presented the Favorite Action Star. The people chose...Hugh Jackman!!
Queen Latifah starred in a Twilight skit with Robert Pattinson. I bet the girls were screaming. It was funny.
Favorite Independent Film: "Inglorious Basterds" Directed by Quentin Tarantino. The movie's stars presented the Favorite Breakout Movie Actor award to Taylor Lautner. The girls went balistic!!! Btw...the third "Twilight" movie: "Eclipse" comes out in June.

Ashton is constantly on Twitter and he has over 1,000,000 followers and I have 29 followers. Ashton is in the "Valentine's Day" movie with Jessica Alba and a big all star cast. Everybody will want to go and see that movie.
Kathryn Morris ("Cold Case") and Greg Grumberg ("Heroes") presented two awards. First, the Favorite New TV Drama award: "The Vampire Diaries". Those vampires are very hot on TV and in the movies right now. Then, the Favorite New TV Comedy: Yay!!! "Glee" That makes me happy. To thank the fans for their support and watching the show, the cast gave the audience a slice of pizza.
L.L. Cool J ("NCIS: Los Angeles") presented the Favorite Female Artist award. The winner is...Taylor Swift!!! She thanked her fans for going to her shows and buying her music. Kanye West was nowhere in sight!!
Closing out the show, Sasha Baron Cohen, star of the two worst and boring movies of the 2000s: "Borat" and "Bruno" presented the Favorite Movie Actor award. The people chose...Johnny Depp who was chosen Favorite Actor of the Decade. What a very special honor for Mr. Depp who will be starring in "Alice in Wonderland" in theaters--this March.
Before I wrap up, it is cold here in Memphis, TN as well as in the Midwest. We are getting some snow tomorrow...I can't wait to get out and have fun in it. I'll post some pics soon. Until next time, stay warm and take care.
P.S.: AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 9 STARTS THIS TUESDAY!!
